Overview
Our client selected Type 1 Ecoblend® CA for the formation of a car park in Newhaven, forming part of the enabling works for an Elementary Academy, where a temporary village was being developed to allow redevelopment of the school to proceed without disrupting pupils’ education.
Project Scope
The project required a cost-effective and high-quality Type 1 material, compliant with SHW 803 / CC 201 specification. Supply had to be consistent and reliable to ensure the smooth progression of the time-sensitive programme.
Material Requirements

- Superior product quality
- Material cost savings
- Ready availability

of IBA repurposed into IBAA

Sustainability
1,298 tonnes of critical natural resources preserved

Material Efficiency
262 tonnes less material required*

Transport Efficiency
Material savings eliminated 28 additional lorry movements
Outcome
Our client was highly impressed with the material, particularly its compaction and quality. They noted that Ecoblend CA exceeded expectations, especially in comparison to other recycled materials typically supplied in East Sussex. Site personnel also commented positively that having anticipated contamination, they found the material clean and consistent.
The delivery of this enabling phase helped ensure that the temporary village at the Academy was ready in time to support the school’s continuity during redevelopment. Due to the success of the material, upon completion our client stated that they will now use recycled material where and when they can in place of primary.
