Overview
As a part of the first phase of a large residential scheme for New Monks Farm, the construction of an adoptable road was required to enable development. Our client selected Ecoblend® CA Type 1 as a reliable sub-base solution, balancing performance, specification compliance, and availability.
Project Scope
This project required a robust SHW 803-compliant sub-base to support the construction of new adoptable roads, forming part of the first phase of development.
With the site’s heavy clay ground creating persistent drainage issues, the material needed to provide consistent compaction, stability, and workability in adverse conditions. Reliability and dependability were crucial to keep the phased programme on track and compliant with Local Authority highways adoption standards.
Material Requirements
We supplied 970 tonnes of Ecoblend CA Type 1, chosen due to its:
- Superior product quality
- Compliance with SHW Specifications
- Laying performance in adverse conditions

Environmental & Economic Impact

Circularity
Equivalent to over 4,312 tonnes of municipal waste diverted from landfill

Sustainability
972 tonnes of critical natural resources preserved

Material Efficiency
196 tonnes less material was required*

Transport Efficiency
Material savings eliminated the need for 20 additional lorry movements
Outcome
Despite the challenging conditions, the sub-base performed strongly, delivering reliable compaction and stable coverage. The client reported smoother working practices and improved productivity compared with other recycled aggregates used locally.
“The material is so easy to work with even in damp conditions and shapes up really well, I was impressed with the compaction and coverage of the material and has proved to be the best recycled material he has used whilst working in this area” – Customer
